The Process
The process of extracting Damask rose essence in Grasse, France, begins with handpicking the roses at dawn when their fragrance is most potent.
The fresh petals are then transported to distilleries, where they undergo steam distillation. This gentle process releases the essential oils, which are separated from the condensed steam to yield a highly concentrated and fragrant extract.
For a more intense fragrance, some petals undergo solvent extraction, producing a wax-like concrete treated with alcohol to obtain the pure rose absolute. This meticulous process ensures the highest quality and most authentic Damask rose essence.
